A Midsummer Night's Blog

I'm writing you on a summer afternoon in Nashville. All the idealistic markers of a perfect day are presenting themselves right now in this moment. I mean, we're talking chirping birds, blinding sunshine, a just-the-right-amount breeze.. There's the distant sound of power washing from someone else's deck and my feet are up on the patio table. I just ate a really awesome sandwich. Such a simple, good day. And so I just wanted to say hi.

I go back on the road tonight and this weekend we'll play in Greensboro, Knoxville, and Louisville. And I guess I should just tell you up front that playing shows on this tour is the best time I've ever had onstage. The crowds we've been playing for have been so unbelievable.. The kind of crowds that jump up and down the entire show, making our view from the stage look like a giant ocean of dancing, jumping people. These are the kinds of crowds that sing the words louder and more passionately than I ever could've imagined. And to have a show that includes ballerinas and fireworks and entire scenery changes.. it's thrilling for me. My band and I have already come away with memories to last a lifetime, and it's not even halfway done yet! The other night, we were playing our first of two shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts. I'm all the way at the end of the stadium, playing "Fearless", and I swear as soon as I sang the words "With you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress, fearless"… I felt a drop of rain hit me. Then there was another one, then there was another. And then it turned into an absolute downpour. Everyone is soaking wet. And at this point in the show, about halfway through our set, this fear came over me that everyone was going to leave the concert. I tried to push it way back into the back of my mind and just kept playing, and to my surprise, the strangest thing happened. No one left. Instead, this ocean of people in front of us just started dancing even more, screaming even louder… And that night I actually got to dance in a storm with them. In my best dress. I'll never forget it.

In a rehearsal space near downtown Nashville, Taylor Swift is working on songs for her summer tour. Dressed casually in a summery blue and tan dress with her hair pulled back in a single braid that hangs below her shoulders, she plays a crystal-studded guitar while she sings a sad waltz, then switches it out for a banjo as her band kicks into her latest country hit, Mean.

Now 21 and living on her own since moving out of her parents' house 20 miles away last June, Swift calls her midtown Nashville penthouse “a wonderland” of barn-wood floors, reclaimed brick walls and mismatched kitchen décor.

“The best thing about being on your own is having that sanctuary,” she says, settling her slender frame into a leather couch. “That place that's yours.”

This week, Swift lands in Columbus, Ohio, on the first leg of an ambitious, six-month North American tour that takes her to 30 states and Canada. And Wednesday, the country star is up for three awards at the CMT Music Awards.

Taylor is going to be in a new animated movie called "The Lorax" which is an adaption of one of the classic Dr. Suess book. She will be playing Audrey, the dream girl of Zac Efron’s character! This is so exciting! :D

Taylor Swift has joined the ensemble voicecast of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, Universal and Illumination Entertainment’s CGI-animated adaptation of the children’s book classic.

Swift joins Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Rob Riggle and Betty White in the tale of a boy who searches for a way to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. He comes across the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Swift will play the dream girl of the idealistic young boy (Efron). DeVito is voice of the Lorax while Helms voices Once-ler, who in the book is never shown except for his hands and arms. Riggle plays a greedy entrepreneur while White will voice Efron’s wise grandmother.

The film reunites many of the players behind Illumination’s first movie, Despicable Me: Chris Renaud is directing from a screenplay by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio.

Illumination founder Chris Meledandri and fellow Despicable Me producer Janet Healey are producing while Audrey Geisel, Suess’ widow, serves as the film’s executive producer.

The pic will be WME-repped Switft’s second entry into the movie world, after her live action debut in last year’s Valentine’s Day.

Taylor’s new album “Speak Now” has been certified triple platinum this week for selling over 3 million copies since it has been release! It's only been around 7 weeks! Congratulations to Taylor!!

There is still a market out there for albums. Just ask Taylor Swift. First her album Speak Now roared into stores in late October 2010 and sold more copies in one week than any album in the last five years. Now, after just seven weeks of release, the collection has been certified triple platinum by the RIAA for shipment of over three million copies. Now all three of Taylor Swift’s studio albums have gone triple platinum or beyond. Her self-titled debut is sitting on a quadruple platinum certification, and Fearless is leading with six times platinum certification. In addition, the single “Love Story” has sold over five million copies. Taylor Swift is now in a horse race for top selling album of the year with the also triple platinum certified Need You Now by Lady Antebellum.
